Effects of Positive Behavior Support on Aggression and Attention to Students with Disabilities in Special Classes
Park Ji-Soon

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of positive behavior support on the aggression and attention of students with disabilities in special classes and to provide basic data for educational rehabilitation of students with disabilities. In a special classroom, students with disabilities often receive interventions only when they show problem behaviors. This type of intervention often reinforces problem behaviors through improper attention. We selected 15 students attending special classes in P, D, and K schools and showing problem behaviors such as aggression and distraction during classroom instruction. The results of this study are as follows:
First, positive behavior support reduced the aggressiveness of students with disabilities in special classes.
Second, positive behavior support increased attention of students with disabilities in special classes.
Positive behavior support has recently been discussed as a major subject of interest in many areas of behavior intervention, but only a few studies have been introduced as a single case in the educational rehabilitation approach for students with disabilities. This study suggests that applying the approach shown in several single cases effectively to groups can provide a basis for effective transition education along with educational rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
